Alex Ruud, B.A., M.A.

PROFESSOR, ONLINE STUDIES

Mr. Alex Ruud is Professor of Online Studies at United Nursing College. He comes to UNC with extensive experience teaching different forms of writing, critical reading, and academic research fundamentals. During his over 20 years of teaching service, he has focused on supplementing learning with technology as well as facilitating and developing engaging curriculum at multiple education levels. Alex earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California Riverside in 1999 and completed a Master of Arts in Education in 2003.

Alex has served the public education sector as a middle school ELA as well as tenth grade English Composition and Cinema as Literature in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. Additionally, he created standards-based content, led multiple trainings on ELA concepts as well as incorporating technology in the classroom, was selected to lead district curriculum teams, served as his site's Instructional Technology Leader, and was selected as department lead and ELA Advisory member. Alex enjoys serving as a mentor for new teachers in MVUSD's Induction program and evaluating curriculum for the California State Board of Education, and he is eager to begin working with college-level students in the area of English Composition.
